Making On-Campus Ordering More Accessible

At Grubhub, we believe that getting a great meal shouldn’t come with barriers. That’s why we’ve teamed up with our campuses across the U.S. to roll out new accessibility features. These inclusive features can help campus community members browse menus, place an order, and enjoy their food the way they want it, all on their own terms.

Our commitment in action

Accessibility is about equity. We want to ensure that every student has a seamless experience when grabbing a coffee between classes or ordering a late-night study snack.

We’re putting our commitment to work by continuing to make Grubhub’s mobile app and campus kiosks accessible for diners. Our latest updates are specially designed to accommodate WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards and evolving ADA Title II requirements.

New enhancements to serve all diners

Our team is continuously striving to enhance accessibility through testing and user feedback, while following regulatory guidelines. Recent upgrades include:

Accessible app navigation features

We’re optimizing the Grubhub app for iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack to support accessible navigation and checkout experiences. The app also supports Voice Control and Switch Access, so you can navigate hands-free using voice commands or external switches.

A customizable kiosk experience

We’re upgrading our kiosks with AudioNav tactile controllers and JAWS screen-reading software, making the ordering experience more accessible.

Simply plug your headphones into the 3.5mm jack to hear text-to-speech guidance every step of the way, from menus and nutritional information to checkout. New UI updates introduce High-Contrast Mode and Dynamic Text Scaling so you can customize the screen to your needs from the start.
